Over period about 20% forest cover was lost 13% 18% Paraná. The odds observed deforestation, else constant, showed nuanced associations with proximity nearest roads, cities, ports. Higher levels economic growth were directly as increases population density over entire period. Protected area designation years 2020 effectiveness lowering heterogeneous countries. Our results reflect associational inferences estimated deforestation; future research should investigate causal effects protected designation, assess its role avoided degradation wider socio-economic impacts.
